Bomber Z2

I have several years of experience riding XC/ Downcounrty and Trail. Im no Pro by any means, but a solid regular-guy rider and have experimented with lots of different forks on both XC and Trail bikes, from low-end stuff when I first started riding, to spending big money high-end FOX Factory forks. I tried a Bomber Z2 on my primary trail bike, 140mm 29-er, as an alternative to another FOX 36. After three seasons on the Z2, I honestly like it better. It's simple, high quality, very smooth off the top, just as good or better than the 36 through the rough stuff, and its reasonably priced. The sweep compression adjuster and rebound **** are easy to use in real time while riding, they are simple and they work. No struggling to try to get a perfect balance of several minute different adjustment clicks to notice real differences in how the fork feels. The Z2 is what MTB riding ACTUALLY needs - simple, quality, excellent performance, durable, affordable - to get people out focusing on and enjoying riding. Oh - and the weight difference compared to the FOX 36 is negligible. This is a quality, affordable fork that provides excellent performance for anything 95% of trail riders will ever need. Don't waste your money on Bells & Whistles !

performs well at the start of the ride, but in the hot dusty Australian summer it heats up quick and starts using up 40% travel on black trails with 60 psi for a 64kg man. It only goes further if I manually push it down while riding - it doesn't do it by itself. Service was 3 weeks ago btw and seals are completely clean. In winter it does much better although it still creaks (and vibrates) during rides.

I bought this fork in 2023 and it has lasted me so long.

Plush set it and forget it fork. Ride is so smooth and the price point make it the goto fork for most of my builds.

My fork is a 2023 model fitted to replace an MRP fork. The bike it went on lost favour to another and hardly did any mileage until 2025 but had been kept under cover in a heated garage. From day 1 there was a bit of front end rattle but I thought it was the headset and ignored it. This year I've put most of the 277 miles on them and now I don't trust them at all - they feel horrible, rattling and vibrating and flexing... It seems this is a known issue with the lowers and the cast-in bushings. People if the internet had lowers replaced under warranty and they were fine, others it started happening again. I no longer have a warranty but an otherwise brand new looking fork, with limited mileage but unusable. Do I take the risk a £200 replacement of the lowers will last or just throw them away now? I'm incredibly disappointed with them and do not recommend them to anyone else - you are just taking a gamble on yours being ok and lasting. The price level is below what I normally pay for a fork and its bitten me with the classic buy cheap, buy twice scenario (not that I'll buy another!). Marzocchi/Fox... You should do me right and swap these out but I don't expect to hear from you :(
